The Pakistani channel "Geo TV" reported that "a special court was set up to try the retired former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf for the death penalty for treason, and that the court reviewing the reports, records and facts for three months found Musharraf guilty of that charge in accordance with the constitution."

It should be noted that the Pakistani judiciary began the trial of Musharraf on charges of treason, since 2014, and accusations of treason to Musharraf for his obstruction of the constitution and the imposition of a state of emergency in 2007 as part of his efforts to extend his term in light of the growing opposition.

Musharraf came to power through a military coup in 1999 and resigned from his post in 2008 to avoid being charged after judges and lawyers led street protests to protest his attempt to dismiss the chief judge at the time.
