Syriac Union: Exclusion of representatives of AA means exclusion will of actors in democratic change

This came during a statement issued by the Executive Body of the Syriac Union Party on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the party

"The launch of the Syriac Union Party in Syria on October 1, 2005, came in response to changing the dark and painful reality that prevails among the Syrians, including our Assyrian Chaldean Syriac people, who were deprived of their national rights and the systematic policies were practiced against them that led to loss of national and cultural specificities and the emigration from the homeland.

Faced with this reality, our party sought to put all its capabilities in order to achieve its national goals by working on radical democratic change in the country and moving from a state of tyranny and chauvinism in mono-government, party, nationalism and language to a democratic state that embodies the reality of political, national and religious pluralism within the framework of the unity of Syria. The party works to promote the Assyrian Syriac people and assert their legitimate rights within a new constitution for Syria that guarantees the establishment of a modern democratic state and guarantees the individual and collective freedoms and rights of the Syrian people.

The 14th anniversary of the founding of our party comes at a time when Syria has been living for more than eight years in a cycle of war, chaos, regional and international interventions and all UN efforts to establish peace in Syria and achieve a political transition in Syria. Regional and international countries wanted to continue the war at the expense of Syrian blood.

In a step that is considered a continuation of the inability of that UN organization announced its ratification of the Constitutional Committee, which was formed by the guarantors of Astana (Russia - Turkey - Iran), which was supposed to be formed through the international envoy to Syria taking into account all the Syrian parties to participate in, this way we cannot find that it can meet the goals and aspirations of the Syrian people and develop a constitution that will be a step towards a democratic political transition, and will deepen the Syrian division and thus move further away from the desired political solution.

It has always been a priority for our party to reach a political solution in Syria that involves all its components and political parties that believe in a political solution, therefore, we find that the exclusion of representatives of the AA in northern and eastern Syria is not the exclusion of a particular component or party, but rather the exclusion of the will of the active forces on the ground and the exclusion of their project of bringing about the required democratic change and an attempt to marginalize the great role and achievements of the AA, especially in combating and eliminating terrorism in areas east of the Euphrates, but all attempts to marginalize us since the beginning of the Geneva and other conferences have only increased our strength and determination to preserve the gains made thanks to the blood of our righteous martyrs.

At the national level, the Syriac Union Party seeks to achieve the recognition of the identity of our Syriac Assyrian people in Syria and to ensure their constitutionally legitimate rights, which is the first guarantee for the continued existence and survival of our people on their land. All our people; institutions, parties, and individuals where all efforts must be united. It is also the responsibility of all our Syrian brothers to achieve justice among all, equality of rights and duties, and recognition of national and religious pluralism within the framework of a secular, democratic and federal Syria.
