Azad Oso: What happens in Idlib is the settling of accounts among countries

Hawar news agency interviewed Azad Oso commenting on recent developments in Idlib, which is witnessing military battles between the forces of the Syrian regime backed by Russia and groups of mercenaries, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhet al-Nusra) which the Turkish state backs.

"The battle of Idlib could only have been prevented by Putin and Erdogan. The indications are that there is an agreement between them, but not to prevent the battle, but in the interest of other deals, such as the Turkish-Russian agreement under which al-Gouta was exchanged for Afrin, separating it from Syrian territory."

Oso pointed to the possibility that the Turkish-Russian agreement on Idlib is fully handing over the countryside of Idlib to the Syrian regime in return for turning a blind eye to the practices of the Turkish occupation in Afrin; violations and committing war crimes including murder, kidnapping and demographic change through the displacement of its original inhabitants and housing their mercenaries coming from Al-Gouta instead.

He explained that "Turkey and Russia agree on the need to get rid of the terrorist factions who reject the Turkish tutelage through attack and retreat battles which Idlib witnesses now, in addition to seeking to get Iran out of the equation."

"Turkey's entry into the Istana line was not to solve the Syrian crisis, but rather to serve its interests. The two parties have an urgent need for coordination and cooperation on economic, military and political issues, especially after the deterioration of the Turkish lira," Azad Oso said.

"The US-Turkish discussions prompted Russia to launch a military operation against Idlib to re-mix the papers after Turkish statements about the possibility of freezing the S-400 missile deal, although Russia does not want to lose Turkey as an important economic partner in the region."

The Syrian politician pointed out that the reason for not agreeing on a formula for resolving the crisis in Idlib is due to several reasons, including Russian-Turkish mismatching and incompatible projects and plans in Idlib, as Turkey wants to annex Idlib as it did in Jarablus, al-Bab and Azaz.

Oso stressed that the solution in the province of Idlib is linked to the total Syrian solution, which is possible through the Syrian-Syrian dialogue after it was proved that there is no military solution in Syria.

At the end of his speech, the head of the branch of the Future Syria's Party in the Euphrates region concluded that as a party, they will contribute to any dialogue with all international, regional and Syrian parties to stop the conflict in the region to alleviate the scourge of the raging war.
