Artist Rêber Wahid: Every artist must be weapon at enemy's face

The Kurdish prominent artist Rêber Wahid said that Turkey is seeking to destroy the region and what is happening in Afrin is a good example, commenting on the Turkish threats to northern and eastern regions of Syria. He also pointed out that Turkey's partnership with IS mercenaries is obvious, stressing the need to unify the Kurdish ranks to confront the enemy.

The statements were made by the Kurdish artist Rêber Wahid during an interview conducted by Hawar news agency with him.

Rêber Wahid won the title of peace ambassador for the disabled in the Middle East, and sang for Afrin and Kobanî resistances. He said, "Kobanî has a special place in my heart. It is the first Kurdish city in the world which triumphed over terrorism in the modern era, and its heroic name was engraved in gold letters in history with the blood of its people and the courage of its heroes who are resisting the Turkish criminal terrorism of IS."

Rêber added, "Turkey has no friends with the wise people in the region and the world. It committed massacres against the Kurds and Armenians, and is still seeking to destroy others as what is happening in Afrin and other cities is the biggest proof of this state's terrorism, and its partnership with IS mercenaries is obvious to everyone.

As for the role of the artist in the resistance, he said, "I sang for Kobanî and Afrin in Arabic and Kurdish languages, and I will sing for all the cities of resistance. This is the duty of the artist towards his people, so every artist should be a weapon in the face of the enemy."

He said, "Everyone has to stand side by side with the Autonomous Administration in order to defeat the enemy and work together for the building, stability and development."

He added, "The Turkish enemy is not safe. This enemy is allied with the devil to control the resources, and it kills for that. They are the descendants of the Ottomans who caused the backwardness of the region since they took over the leadership of the Arab and Islamic nation, and the massacres of the Armenians and the Kurds are good example."

He added that Turkey is a backward country culturally and morally, and it is trying to supply this backwardness by stealing cultures and suppressing all other cultures.

The artist Rêber Wahid is descended from the northern city of Qamishlo, a Kurdish artist who has sung in more than 14 international languages, and won several regional and international awards.
