Hassen: Turkey's goal of buffer zone is to undermine area's security, stability

Under the slogan, "With Will and Organization, We Will Liberate Afrin, and Build Decentralized and Democratic Syria," PYD held its first conference in the western district of al-Hasakah city.

Hundreds of the party's members participated in the conference that was held at Resho hall in al-Hasakah city. The conference's hall was ornamented with the flags of PYD and banners with "By resistance, we confront the Turkish occupation," "PYD is a guarantee to achieve the democratic and free society" written on.   

The conference started with holding a minute of silence, and that was followed by a speech delivered on behalf of PYD by the co-chair of the party Shahoz Hassen who touched upon the political situation and the latest developments witnessed in the area.

Hassen said, "The Turkish fascist state used all inhuman methods to occupy Afrin and displace its people. This fascism must be broken through achieving the democratic thought for all the peoples."

Hassen affirmed that their objective is to achieve a democratic Syria for all the peoples. Since the beginning of the party's foundation, they have been working on deploying this thought.

Hassen noted that the Kurdish parties that rejected the dialogue with the National Conference to unify the Kurdish ranks and resorted to Turkey will not gain anything of their ambitions in Rojava.

The co-chair of PYD Shahoz Hassen pointed out that Turkey's endeavor to establish the buffer zone is not to spread security, rather, it aims to undermine the security and stability witnessed in the area as it did and still doing in Afrin.

In the end of his speech, Hassen said, "We struggled and achieved victories against IS terrorism and Jabhet al-Nusra. We will escalate struggle against the Turkish claims through applying the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan's thought and philosophy."

After that, the co-chair of the Martyrs' Families Council Fatma Hassen delivered a speech and said, "We, in Rojava, have been struggling for more than seven years to achieve our freedom, and through depending on our forces, we have become the difficult number in the equation to resolve the Syrian issue."

Fatma added, "All the world must hear the voice of the Kurdish people when they say no to the Turkish occupation."

In turn, the administrative member of Kongra Star Halima Ahmed touched upon the struggle of free women who have resisted and proved their resistance over the history saying, "We salute the victorious resistance of Sakina and her comrade Leyla Guven who proved that women's resistance would bring victory."

After that, the administrator in PYD Ibrahim Dawood read the organizational situation of PYD in addition to reading the organizational report of the women by the administrator in PYD Shaha Sino.

Then, discussions began with the attendees about the organizational reports and the proposals for the work in the next two years.

The conference of the western district in al-Hasakah city concluded its activities with electing 12 members to administer the works of the party in the western district.
