Kobanî women played prominent role in resistance

Kobanî women resisted against IS attacks on September 15- 2014 on Kobanî city. The resistance, which lasted for 134 days, ended with victory and the destruction of male mentality on January 26, 2015.

Every victory has a price, so the price of protecting Kobanî was to make sacrifices by all the people, especially the women of the city, who refused to surrender and made great sacrifices, including Arin Mirkan, Destina and Rivana. These women became symbols and examples to be emulated throughout the world where they showed strong determination.

She refused to go out and resisted with the fighters

The story of the mother Hiva Hesso is one of these stories, Hiva Hesso, 43 years old, a mother of eight children, who joined Asayiş Forces since its establishment.

 When IS mercenaries occupied Kobanî on September 15, 2014, Hiva asked her husband to go out of the city with her children, where she insisted on staying in the city and resist alongside fighters.

Hiva Hesso moved from the Asayiş Forces to the Wounded House where she was supervising the wounded in terms of service and health and securing their needs. The mercenaries then targeted the house, so they had to move the house from al-Jemarek Neighborhood.

Hiva referred to the support provided by the Turkish occupation state to mercenaries, and said in this regard, "The Turkish occupation state was sending ambulances to recover the bodies of mercenaries and wounded who are injured in the battles."

She added that after the resistance of the YPG, YPJ fighters alongside the people, Turkey began to deploy snipers along the border with Kobanî to target us.

She noted that they stayed for many days without food. The Turkish occupation forces cut off the roads to prevent the entry of foodstuffs, but they did not give up and resisted.

She remained steadfast till liberating all of Kobanî lands

Hiva said, "I did not accept leaving the city, preferring resistance, and dealing with the mercenaries' attacks that were aimed to destroy us."

After the liberation of Kobanî and the hill of Mushta Noor from the mercenaries, mother Hiva returned to the ranks of the Asayiş forces to maintain the security of the city and the people, and to continue in resistance there.

Hiva concluded, "We will continue this struggle and resistance and will not give up and we will protect the gains made thanks to the blood of the martyrs."
