40 families join "Al-Awda" camp, preparations to provide more services

40 families have joined "Al-Awda" camp amid preparations to provide more services.

After the Turkish aggression of Afrin, thousands of people headed toward ​​Şêrawa district in Afrin and al-Shahba canton, they live in the semi-destroyed houses, shops and schools, and camps opened by the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Afrin and al-Shahba.

The People's Municipality in Şêrawa district in cooperation, with the Local Administration Body and municipalities in Afrin, established "al-Awda camp" in November, 2018 in the village of Ziyara to shelter the residents who live in the semi-destroyed places.

140 tents were prepared after 3 months of the camp's opening, more than 40 families headed to the camp from al-Shahba canton and some were from Şêrawa district.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration prepared to open a bazaar to meet the needs of the residents from vegetables, and other daily supplies.

Mother Amina Hannan said that they are ready to face off all the difficulties and life obstacles, and resist till returning to Afrin in dignity.

On regard of the camp's situations, the administrator of al-Awda camp, Samira Abdul Rahman said, noting that with the coming of winter, we rushed to open al-Awda camp in order to secure more comfortable life for the displaced people, noting 40 families are living there now, more than 100 tents are ready to receive more.

Samira confirmed that they are working now to open a bazaar to provide daily needs of the people and make job opportunities available for the camp’s residents, who in turn, initiated to plant the olive trees in the camp, assuring their adherence with Afrin land.
