McGurk: US power evaporates in front of Russia, IS has not been defeated yet

CNN held an interview with Brett McGurk, saying " US has no plan for what is coming, what granted it power to confront IS is troops fighting on the ground,” he added that the decision to withdraw increases the threat and risks and weakens the position of US in front Russia.

Brett McGurk added: What gave us power on the table is that we are on the ground and we have great power in Syrian territory, and we drew lines on the map to show the Russians that you do not cross this line or you will have a very bad day.

In early December, US Defense Secretary James Mattis met with all the military partners to the International Coalition against IS, including many countries that have been attacked outside Syria, McGurk said. "The unanimously agreed opinion is that a ISIS has not been defeated," McGurk said.

“I do not think there will be a single expert walking in the Oval Office and telling the president that this is over, and that is why we have always said that the mission was a permanent defeat for IS, but to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that no vacuum is left to IS."
