Afrin women were considerably maltreated; Turkey must get out of Syria

On Sunday, The Syrian Women's Council released a statement, confirming that the women in Afrin have severely suffered, were exposed to killing, kidnapping, displacing, and raping.

The statement stressed that with the occupation of Afrin by Turkey, the Syrian crisis entered a new stage intersected with the calculations and regional and international desires, where Turkey played the worst role in all conferences and discussions held to find a solution to the crisis in Syria from the Geneva and Sochi to the conferences of Astana to ensure the extension of control over areas of Syrian territory under the pretext of de-escalation, but it was a kind of occupation of these areas under other names and to be a hotbed of armed terrorist gangs and training camps under the protection of Turkey.

The statement pointed out that the Turkish occupation state has broken all international laws, conventions and treaties through the use of internationally prohibited weapons in their occupation attacks.

Moreover, the statement noted to Turkish occupation of Afrin under fake pretexts and displaced more than one million Syrian citizens, they were exposed to brutal aggression that devastated everything, and turned to armed terrorist gangs, it is no secret Turkey's links with mercenary factions on various names and classified internationally on the terrorism list.”

The council condemned the international silence, calling it unjustified and incomprehensible. Turkey has set up observation points in Idlib arriving to the countryside of Hama, as well as the threats of occupation of areas in north and east of Syria. "What we witnessed in Tel-Abyed and Manbij is the best proof of Turkish ambitions."

"We at the Syrian Women's Council believe we want to find common relationships away from religious, national or ideological fanaticism within the framework of a national project that is for everyone a project that will contribute to the re-communication between the Syrians and liberate Syria from all foreign occupations."

At the end of the statement, the council called on the international community and its institutions to help the Syrians to put an end to the continuing Turkish threats to Syrian territory, force Turkey out of Syrian territory unconditionally, return the land to its Syrian owners and hold Turkey accountable for all violations and crimes committed against innocent civilians in Afrin.
