The parliamentarian of the Democratic People's Party and the co-chair of Kurdistan Society Conference Leyla Guven has been on a hunger strike since the 7th of last November in the Turkish state's prison in Amed, demanding to lift the isolation on the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. Furthermore, the hunger strike entered its 64th day.

After the lawyers were prevented from meeting their client since the 4th of January, the attorney Gulşen Ozbek met with Leyla Guven and spoke about her health status.

She cannot walk alone

Gulşen Ozbek said that Leyla Guven cannot walk alone from the prison to the room to meet with the lawyers, adding, "We were able to meet her for only 10 minutes due to her bad health status."

She can barely drink water

Gulşen Ozbek said that Leyla Guven hardly speaks and drinks water. She added, "In the 10 minutes we met her, she was repeating her words and forgot some things. She told us that she could hardly drink water. There are problems with sleeping as she cannot sleep. Liquids affect her heart somewhat so she cannot drink liquids."

Her health status is very bad

Gulşen Ozbek said that Leyla Guven wants her demand to be met more than touching upon her health status, and she added, "We cannot ignore her health status. Her health status is so bad."

She did not accept the intervention of doctors

Gulşen Ozbek said that the prison's doctor had asked for a confirmed report about her health status, but Leyla Guven rejected that categorically, and rejected the intervention of anybody. Leyla Guven's demands are right and the Justice must act soon to meet her demands.
