YPJ reveals outcome of 2018 resistance

On Saturday, the General Command of the Women's Protection Units released a statement to the public, revealing the results of their resistance in 2018.

The statement said:

"We, as Women's Protection Units, have done our duty to protect all women in the region in 2018. Our forces have confronted the Turkish occupation in Resistance of the Age with great courage and confidence, and this indicates the resistance of our fighters and their decision to victory. Our forces also took their place in al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, which was launched against IS mercenaries in the countryside of Deir –ez-Zor effectively."

With regard to the results of the resistance of Women's Protection Units for 2018, the General Command of the units published the following information:

- In the Resistance of the Age in Afrin, which lasted for 58 days, clashes broke out 900 times.

- Turkish occupation army launched 1,042 air raids on Afrin.

- In the battles, 2,422 mercenaries affiliated to the Turkish state were eliminated.

- In the second phase of the Resistance of the Age,147 operations were carried out.

- In these operations, 350 mercenaries of the Turkish state were eliminated.

- Fighters of the Women's Protection Units have taken a leading and major role al-Jazeera Tempest campaign.

- In the last stage of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign, 4,214 mercenaries were killed.

-In the campaign, dozens of areas and hundreds of villages have been liberated from the occupation of IS mercenaries.

- Thousands of civilians were rescued from the grip of IS.

- In 2018, 149 of our fighters reached the rank of martyrdom after considerable resistance.

The General Command pointed out in a statement that 2018 witnessed the joining of hundreds of women from all components of Rojava and north and east of Syria, to their forces.
