Turkish authorities begin investigation of two signatories of petition

Turkish authorities began questioning with 170 persons, including politicians, journalists and academics, who were sent a letter to the parliament against Turkish aggression of Afrin earlier in 2018.

The Turkish website "Bianet" reported that an investigation had been carried out with 170 persons who had sent a petition to members of parliament calling for an end to the Turkish aggression and its mercenary gangs on Afrin on 20 January 2018.

The Turkish site adds that after 11 months of sending the letter to the Turkish parliament, some of the signatories were summoned to the "Counter-Terrorism Department" to witness. And in a questioning of the police, the signatories were asked, "What is their purpose in signing the petition?"

The letter, signed by 170 politicians, artists, journalists and representatives of civil society, were all sent to TBMM members in January, when Erdogan described the signatories as "traitors".

It is noteworthy that Turkey and with green light of Russia as a deal in which the East Gouta near Damascus was emptied of Turkey's pro-Turkish mercenaries and handed over to Russia, it had launched an attack on Afrin on 20 January 2018 and occupied Afrin and had displaced its inhabitants and made a demographic change.
