After the liberation of the city of al-Raqqa by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in October 2017, the People's Municipality assumed responsibility as a qualitative step to rehabilitate and repair the rotors and bridges that were destroyed in the city.

Work is under way to rehabilitate al-Naeem, al-Sa'aa, al-Mashadani, and al-Malab roundabouts. Most of the roundabout is being rehabilitated by the People's Municipality in coordination with some organizations operating in the city.

One of the most important roundabouts which have been resorted is al-Naeem roundabout which was transformed by IS to the Hell roundabout. It was a testimony of the killing and wounding of hundreds of innocent civilians, not to mention the hang of the civilians' heads at that point.

Today, it is shown with its civilized appearance in the light of the great works offered by the People's Municipality and the Early Intervention Team to end the first phase of rehabilitation.

The co-chair in the People's Municipality Ahmed Ibrahim said, "The People's Municipality is working today to rehabilitate the roundabouts in the city in order to restore the cultural splendor of the city. The work is done by covering the roundabouts and painting them again with civilized and beautiful colors, and hand in hand to restore life to the whole city."

As well, al-Sunbula, al-muzareh, al-Forousiah and al-Mikas roundabouts have been rehabilitated.

It is worth mentioning that at the time of the IS occupation, al-Naeem square's name was turned into the Hell roundabout as the mercenaries cut the heads of the soldiers of 17th Division and 93rd Brigade affiliated to the Syrian regime and hanged them on the iron fence of the roundabout.

On 11 October 2017, the Syrian Democratic Forces liberated al-Naeem roundabout turning it into a destination for the people, not to mention the opening of shops and revitalizing life again there.
