Bassam Ishaq: Application, consolidation of Autonomous Administration prevent Turkey from reaching its goals in the region

The representative of the Syrian Democratic Council in the United States, Bassam Ishaq, said during an interview with Hawar news agency (ANHA) to talk about the democratic experience witnessed by the people in the areas of North-East Syria, and Turkey's aim of the attacks against the safe people in these areas.

Autonomous Administration is a pioneer project and has proved its worth

Bassam Ishaq pointed out that the Autonomous Administration project is a pioneer project and proved its worth and success on the ground. It provided security and stability to the areas which are protected by SDF and has presented a pluralistic model with the recognition of the national, cultural and ethnic identities of the residents of the area. He added "Women also are present within the Autonomous Administration who has achieved freedom through the participation in all institutions."

Bassam Ishaq noted that what distinguishes the Autonomous Administration is its recognition of diverse cultures and the separation of religion from the state so as not to take advantage of religion in power. He added, "This project presented a model in which the recognition of the right to worship and belief was propagated as a model for all the proper lands and will achieve the aspirations of the people who call for freedom."

This project fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people

The representative of SDF in the United States pointed out that the Syrian revolution and at the time of its outbreak in 2011, there was the question of the form of the political system which will reflect the demand for freedom and dignity. The project currently implemented in North- East Syria proved its ability to achieve the aspirations of the people who revolt demanding freedom and dignity.

Turkey fabricates pretexts and arguments to invade and occupy the area

He said in a comment on the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation against the area, "Turkey wants to destabilize the security and is trying to create pretexts and arguments to invade and occupy the area and occupy it as it had done in Afrin."

He pointed out that Turkey speaks about freedom and democracy while applying slavery, investment of religion and political exploitation in order to impose its hegemony and reach its goals, and there are major violations of human rights practiced in Afrin and the Syrian territories which it had occupied.

At the end of his speech, Bassam stressed that the great challenge for Turkey is the project of democracy because its application and its consolidation prevent Turkey from reaching its goals in the region.
