Afrin Citizens: Ocalan's philosophy is against discrimination, caste differences

The citizens of Afrin who met Abdullah Ocalan in the 1990s said that they were introduced to the principles of organization and self-reliance, and pointed out that Ocalan's arrest came out of fear of his ideology which fights capitalism and caste in the Middle East.

The AKP authorities have been preventing the lawyers of the leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan from meeting with him since July 2011. The Public Prosecution has refused the requests of meeting with him for 764 times.

In this regard, the correspondents of ANHA agency in al-Shahba canton met with the people who had met Ocalan in the 1990s to talk about the extent of their relevance with him and the principles they have taken from him.

Ahmed Balo, a resident from Afrin had met with the leader three times, the first in 1992 in Lebanon, and in the other two times in al-Ashrafia neighborhood of Aleppo, Syria in 1993 and 1994.

He said that the axes of all meetings with Ocalan were related to the social problems that we lived and live in. He added, "The leader was urging us on these problems and the ways of solving them and how we can overcome them. The leader criticized at each meeting the themes of capitalism to limit the person's thought and not to think about political matters and the matters concerned to the people."

Ahmed Balo noted, "I wonder how a great leader could be jailed by a conspiracy plotted by the international countries! We see these plans as a sign of their fear of spreading the leader's ideology among all the people of the Middle East and the fight against capitalism."

Al-Sheikh Rashid, who met with Ocalan in 1993 in al-Ashrafia neighborhood of Aleppo, said, "I cannot describe my meeting with the leader Ocalan, the meeting that brought us together, made me dependent on myself. The focus of the leader's talks was about the insistence on the principles of criticism and self-criticism which are considered one of the basics in building the organized society and the insistence on adhering to the co-existence."

He noted, "During my meeting with the leader, I learned about the methods of special war pursued by the enemies for decades against the Kurdish people to erase their identity. The example of which is applied today which lies in the practices of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in Afrin from destruction of monuments to demographic change reaching to imposing the Turkish language on the people of Afrin."

Al-Sheikh Rashid ended his speech by demanding freedom for Abdullah Ocalan and all the oppressed peoples.
