Netanyahu : Putin alone cannot take Iran out of Syria

The speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu came in a speech before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

He said "Our spy planes continue to fly and collect information, and according to our information, the volume of Iranian arms transfers to Hezbollah has decreased significantly across Syria since the Russian plane was dropped." According to the Israeli Haaretz website.

The Israeli website quoted those present at the Knesset session as saying that Netanyahu hinted that another country was needed to get Iran out of Syria without mentioning it.

According to Netanyahu, relations between Israel and Russia are "good." "My conversation with Putin lasted half an hour and it was excellent," he said, referring to a meeting of leaders on the sidelines of the Paris conference marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, he said, "I have offered to increase coordination between our armies, but we are still working in Syria,"

Amos Harel of Haaretz wrote on Friday that even the "quick meeting" between Netanyahu and Putin did not solve the crisis that began with the plane's drop.

According to Harel, Russia has made clear to Israel in many ways that the situation is over. "The Israeli Air Force activity was disrupting its main project  restoring Assad's control over most of Syria and signing long-term contracts with the regime in Syria would protect Moscow's security and economic interests in the country."
