International community is silent, Turkey escalates violations against Afrin

More than 9 months, the Turkish occupation army has been practicing the most heinous crimes and violations against the people of Afrin amid a shameful silence by the international community, and the violations of the Turkish occupation army reached to the extent of cutting thousands of olive trees and selling them as firewood in the markets of areas under their control.

The international community is still silent towards the inhumane violations and practices of the Turkish occupation army which are being escalated against the people of Afrin. The international community remained silent during the shelling of the canton by 72 warplanes at the beginning of the Turkish aggression on 22 January and its silence is still ongoing after Turkey committed several massacres against women and children. The international community remained silent after the occupation of the canton on 18 March, and it insisted on its silence after abducting, capturing, looting and burning the civilian's property in Afrin by the Turkish occupation army.

In view of the actions carried out by Turkey against Afrin people, we see that they have exceeded all international covenants not only against human but also against nature, and the systematic silence of international community is the reason.

Recently, sources inside the city of Afrin have reported that the Turkish occupation army and after the burning of forest trees in Afrin canton began cutting off the olive trees belonging to the people of Afrin and selling them.

According to information received, the Turkish occupation army has begun the process of cutting the olive trees since several days with the aim of destroying the nature of Afrin. The information confirmed that the elements of the Turkish occupation army are selling olive trees which are cut in the cities of Azaz and Atmah and in the villages and districts of north rural areas of Aleppo, where the price per ton reached to 30,000 SP.

In the same context, another source inside Afrin said that the so-called al-Jabha al-Shamia began a few days ago stealing and looting the houses and warehouses of civilians in al-Ashrafia neighborhood in the center of Afrin.

The olive trees are considered one of the sanctuaries for the people of Afrin and the source of their first livelihood in their lives.
