Tal Jihan houses, churches are witness to Turkish occupation aggression

The Turkish occupation army continues to target civilians in villages, towns and cities bordering the border strip between Turkey and northern Syria. Since October 28, the Turkish occupation army has intensified its attacks on villages and towns in northern Syria. The Turkish army has prevented farmers from these villages, towns and cities from cultivating their adjacent lands of the border, including Tal Jihan village belonging to Tirbespiyê district in al-Jazeera region  which inhabited by the Kurds, Syriacs and Arabs.

On Tuesday morning, November 6, the Turkish occupation forces shelled civilians’ houses in addition to a civilian vehicle that was traveling on the village road and causing material damage.

This is not the first time that the Turkish occupation army has targeted the village. For years, it has been subjected to bombardment and targeting, and by entering this village adjacent to the border we can see the effects and shrapnel of shells on the walls, doors and windows of the houses. There are effects of more than 15 bullets on its walls.

The Syriac citizen George Ishooa from Tal Jihan village pointed out that the Turkish occupation army aims by threatening the villagers and driving them to evacuate their village, he said "because the village is characterized by coexistence between the Kurds, Syriacs and the Arabs. it is constantly targeted by the Turkish occupation and even the church was targeted."

Turkey aims to end the presence of Syriacs along the borderline

George Ishooa said "Targeting the church by the Turkish occupation army comes within the policy of the Turkish state to end the presence of the Syriac people along the border strip."

He added "we are steadfast and we will remain one hand and stand united against any aggression on our land," he also called on the United Nations and the Security Council to put an end to the daily Turkish violations of civilians and places of worship.

While the farmer Suleiman Khader Suleiman explained that the Turkish occupation prevents them from cultivating their lands adjacent to the border.

He added ,"we were not able to harvest part of our territory during the season last year as a result of shooting by snipers of Turkish occupation army, and today we cannot cultivate our land as well."
