People of North Syria demonstrate in Kobanî condemning Turkish attacks

The demonstrators, who carried flags of the People and Women Protection Units (YPG, YPJ) expressed their solidarity with the forces working to protect the area through a demonstration launched from the Free Women Arena, heading towards the Martyr Agîd Square which is a few hundred meters away from it and will celebrate the International Day of Solidarity with Kobanî Resistance.

The demonstration launched to denounce the Turkish attacks on Kobanî canton on October 28 and 31, and the first aggression on the canton resulted in the martyrdom of a fighter of the Self-Defense Forces.

After the arrival of the demonstrators to the Martyr Agîd Square, a ceremony will be held by the administration of the canton on the International Day of Solidarity with the Kobanî Resistance which falls on today.

Delegations from North and East Syria, including the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Abdul Hamid al-Muhbash and the Executive Council's co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council Ilham Ahmed attended the event.

It is scheduled that several speeches would be delivered and technical events would be organized during the celebration.

After the liberation of Kobanî on 26 January, 2015 after 134 days of continuous fighting against IS, the Kurds and the people of the city of Kobanî celebrate each year as a fruit of the historic resistance that took place in Kobanî.

But this year's celebration was anticipated by Turkey's attacks on the western villages of Kobanî canton. Analytics said that it targets the International Day of Solidarity with Kobanî which the world approved four years ago for the Resistance of Kobanî.

Politicians from areas of North Syria considered the Turkish attacks as an attempt to ease IS who had been targeted by the Syrian Democratic Forces before the Turkish attacks in the campaign to defeat them from their last strongholds east of Deir ez-Zor.

The events that will be organized today in Kobanî condemn the Turkish government's policy and its leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and call for the International Community to reduce the Turkish hostility towards North Syria.
