Uncle Dibo.. Story from Sheikh Maqsoud resistance

The neighborhood of resistance, Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo witnessed hundreds of stories that occurred to the people and fighters. Uncle Dibo Ibrahim is a story of resistance against the mercenaries of the age.

Uncle Dibo Ibrahim who is at 60 and nicknamed Sheikh Kobanî is from Kobanî canton. He is the father of 6 children, 2 of them are fighters in the ranks of YPG in Aleppo city, and he is living in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

Defense and resistance are everyone's responsibility

During the years of events and battles in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, Uncle Dibo has refused to leave his home and flee abroad. He did not stand idly by and stood beside the fighters of YPG and YPJ in the trenches of fighting.

He said that he had carried arms for his strong will which stemmed from his belief in the strength of YPG, YPJ in defending the neighborhood over the past years.

Uncle Dibo Ibrahim narrated some events that took place with him to ANHA agency, "Our house is located on the frontal front line at Gundi Beno. Throughout the bombing, I did not get out of it even though the fighters told me several times to go out for fear of shelling, but I refused their request to stand beside them."

My family and I then played our part in preparing food for the fighters, helping the wounded and caring for them until they were sent to the only hospital in the neighborhood.

In 2014, as the first attacks intensified on the neighborhood where 40 mercenary gangs launched an attack on the neighborhood. Uncle Dibo did not hesitate for a second to defend the neighborhood and stand in the trenches, and he considered the defense to be his responsibility as well.

Uncle Dibo's duty did not stop preparing food and helping the wounded. He and many of the neighborhood's residents refused to leave the neighborhood, joined the battles and stood against the attacks; al-Hayani attacks, Intelligence Street Attacks, Youth Housing, al-Ashrafieh liberation, 15 and 20 Streets.

The resistance made strongly by every individual and fighter

Uncle Dibo added, "We lived the hardest days of our lives, yet, we stayed resisting with the fighters in the trenches of fighting and we supported each other and did not feel weak. We took our strength from each other, we made enormous sacrifices and would not surrender at all costs.

"Today, if we are here and we have won, that is by virtue of the sacrifices of our martyrs. The people of Sheikh Maqsoud suffered a great deal and paid a lot for everything. However, they did not succumb to the humiliation and did not surrender," he said.
