SDF released 102 convicted persons dealing with IS after their sentence ended

The detainees were released at Resho Hall in al-Hasakah in al-Jazeera region of North Syria in the presence of notables of the Senate in al-Hasakah canton, a delegation from the al-Jazeera region’s council, representatives of the canton’s council, the families of the detainees and SDF’s commanders.

The 102 detainees of Syrian and Iraqi nationalities who were convicted of belonging to IS mercenaries were released after their sentence ended and they pledged to not join any terrorist gang on bail from the notables and sheikhs of the area.

According to information that Hawar news agency’s reporter obtained, the trial period of these detainees ranged from half a year to two years.

During the release ceremony, the co-chair of al-Jazeera region Abdul Karim Serokhan saluted the resistance of SDF against terrorism and the sacrifices they made for the sake of the area’s stability.

Serokhan pointed out, “Many parties bet on the failure of the democratic project implemented in North and East Syria through spreading intrigues and seditions, but the culture of the fraternity of peoples in the area has foiled all these conspiracies.”

Serokhan noted, “These mercenary gangs represented by the Turkish state and its president Erdogan were sold by the lowest prices to the regime and the Russians in exchange for their personal interests which caused the killing of the Syrian people and the displacement of many people from their land, and Afrin city is the best proof of that.”

The clans’ notables of the area also delivered speeches among them the speech of the sheikh of al-Agidat clan in Deir ez-Zor Jamil al-Hefel, the sheikh of the Begara clan Hajem al-Bashir and the head of al-Hol camp’s council for Iraqi refugees Kheder Saleh.

In their speeches, the sheikhs thanked SDF for trusting them and releasing a new batch of detainees.

They also stressed that they, as tribes of the area, support SDF with all their possibilities and they made clear that these detainees will live their normal life, but that everyone must proceed the proper path and work to build this homeland together.

After that, the released prisoners pledged to not carry out acts that would harm the public security and the citizens and to not join the terrorist gangs on bail from the clans’ notables and sheikhs of the area.

Then, the detainees were handed over to their families.

It is worth mentioning that the DAA, in coordination with the Relations Committee of SDF, released 23 detainees accused of belonging to IS mercenaries in early October.
