SDF foiled several attacks of IS, advanced in several axes

The media center of SDF issued a statement disclosing the outcome of the clashes ongoing in Deir ez-Zor countryside within the battle to defeat terrorism, and it included,

‘1- Baguz axis: Strong clashes broke out between our fighters and IS terrorists in the evening in which the terrorists used all kinds of heavy weapons, trying to break the front lines of our fighters. They set the tires on fire to prevent their movements and locations from being detected by the International Coalition’s warplanes.

The terrorists attempted to attack our fighters' points with four car bombs in addition to hovering drones belong to them; however, our fighters managed to kill one driver whose body was kept at their hands and the car was seized. The other three vehicles were targeted by our fighters with launchers and heavy machine guns that resulted in retreating them. Our fighters seized quantities of weapons and communications equipment.

The Global Coalition’s artillery targeted four terrorists’ sites which resulted in destroying them and killing a number of their elements.  We could not know their number.

Our fighters advanced on the front despite the intensity of mines planted by the mercenaries in the area.

On another side of this axis, the terrorists attempted to launch a counter-attack against our forces and targeted a bulldozer of our troops that was damaged, but the attack was repelled and a number of the mercenaries were killed. Moreover, our fighters seized a number of weapons and military equipment.

After our forces controlled half of al-Soseh town, they continue to advance in its neighborhoods to liberate the entire town from the terrorists.

Our fighters also launched an attack on the terrorists’ positions from three sub-axes as they advanced 1 km on the first axis and managed to install 14 new points. The International Coalition’s aircraft bombed several sites of the terrorists, but the damage inflicted to them was not known.

The terrorists tried to launch a counter-attack. They fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a building liberated by our fighters. The building was destroyed and some of our fighters were injured as they were taken to the field hospitals.

The fighters advanced 2 km in the second axis and installed 19 points in addition to seizing a car loaded by a Dushka of 12.5 mm caliber and killing a number of terrorists after violent clashes.

They also advanced 3.5 km in the third axis and installed 6 new points in the result of engaging into clashes and battles against the terrorist organization.

In the evening, our fighters advanced 1 km and set 17 positions after clashes with the terrorists who resorted to indiscriminate bombardment using mortars and heavy artillery (Obis).

For the second day in a row, al-Soseh town has been witnessing the fiercest clashes between our fighters and IS terrorists after our troops broke into the town on Monday.

The continuous clashes inflicted heavy losses to the terrorists amid a significant progress of our forces as Hawi al-Soseh village adjacent to the town was liberated, and our forces dominated most of the town's neighborhoods.

2- Hejin axis: Clashes broke out between our fighters and IS terrorists in this axis while the terrorists resorted to the long-range bombardment using heavy weapons, mortar cannons and Obises, but they did not cause any damage in the ranks of our fighters. Our fighters responded to them with the intense bombardment, but the losses inflicted to the mercenaries were not confirmed.

Furthermore, this axis witnesses a mutual bombardment with mortars every now and then.

3- The outcome of the final clashes:

The terrorists’ killed: 29 terrorists.

The terrorists’ losses: 7 buildings use to be used as command sites and for launching the shells were destroyed.

The weapons and equipment seized by our fighters: BKC /2/, Kalashnikov /1/, RBG launcher /1/, a walky-talky device of Hitra type, a booby-trapped vehicle, a vehicle loaded by Dushka of 12.5 calliber.

The number of the Global Coalition’s raids: 10 raids.

The number of the missile strikes: 6 missile strikes.
