Şêrawa ... Despite suffering, people still resist

After occupying Afrin canton by the Turkish army and its mercenaries, "Burj Qas , Gundi Mazin, Klootah, Zarnait, Mayassa and Bashmera" villages of Şêrawa are under siege by the mercenaries on the one hand and on the other the forces of the regime siege.

However, the people of these villages have been resisting the siege for seven months and have refused to leave the land in defiance of the policy of the Turkish occupation, which is changing the demographics of the region and trying to displace its original inhabitants.

In Afrin, the Turkish occupation settled al-Ghouta and other areas such as Homs, Hama and Qalmoun people, coincided with the displacement of the original people and the looting of the region's goods.

However, in Şêrawa district and al-Shahba canton, the people continue their resistance against the occupation, clinging to its land and seeking to organize its ranks in preparation for the whole liberation of Afrin.

Resident of Şêrawa district Ramadan Nasro "the occupation targets us from time to time with missiles at first, it targeted the surrounding villages, but recently began targeting the populated villages' center."

He added," they cannot stand in front of us. We will resist these policies and are always ready to protect our villages."

Ramadan Nasro directed his speech to the international community and the United Nations and said ,"It is true that you remained silent about all the violations that have been committed against the people of Afrin, but we will not give up our resistance and our land and we will remain on our land until we all return to Afrin canton."

Thousands of Afrin residents live in al-Shahba and Şêrawa after they left Afrin, occupied by the Turkish army on March 18 this year.

These areas are under the attack of Turkish mercenaries its occupying army, and are often shelling the area with mortars and being attacked by land attacks .

while the citizen Mohammed Ali,  another resident living in the area said, "this land is ours and no matter how they tried to attack and cut the supply routes to these villages, we will resist till returning to our city."

Abdul Majid Suleiman, a resident of Burj Suleiman village, in the area of Şêrawa, was forced to leave the village after being attacked by the occupation.

Abdul Majid Suleiman stresses that popular solidarity in al-Shahba increases their will to resist attacks and occupation policy.

He added ,"we are the people who created the resistance, we have nothing else in life, we will remain resisting until we gain our rights and liberate our land."

Despite the difficult living conditions in that area, Afrin residents of al-Shahba and Şêrawa continue to resist side by side in an attempt to organize the ranks, and the aim is to free Afrin and return to it after expulsion of the occupiers.
