Serdem camp .. Parents, orgs organize themselves

The people of Afrin left their homes to al-Shahba canton, because of the occupation of Afrin on March 18 by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries. Democratic Autonomous Administration opened camps to welcome the families, where they continue to receive families fleeing violations of the Turkish occupation.

Serdem  camp is among these camps which were opened for 250 families from Afrin. Camp management and civil institutions, providing services to the people, based on available resources.

The camp's administrator, Hevin Rashid, said that they are the only ones who provide assistance to the people, in order to help them in the difficulties they are suffering.

The parents organized themselves in the camp, where they formed their own communes.

Since the opening of the camp, the People's Municipality has started to provide services to the people, starting with repairing the camp floor, securing water and electricity, setting up toilets, a popular market and a playground for children in the camp and mosque.

Hevin Rashid told ANHA agency that they encountered a lot of difficulties while providing these services.

Opening school and cultural events

In addition, the Committee for Training in Democratic Society opened a school for the children of the camp so that they could complete their studies, which were denied in Afrin as a result of the Turkish aggression on Afrin.

In turn, the Culture and Art Committee played its role in preserving the culture and art of the people of Afrin, which the Turkish occupation tried to destroy. They formed singing and dancing bands and composed songs about Resistance of the Age. the last one was "Afrin, Afrina Me Ye" which means in English "Afrin is Ours".

In addition, the movement organized cultural events, such as the opening of a library of books and celebrations.

Opening of a playground near the camp

In addition, the Rojava Youth Union opened a football stadium near the camp and organized a football tournament in coordination with the Youth and Sports Union, in which several teams from all the villages of al-Shahba and Şêrawa districts participated.

On the other hand, Rojava Youth Union organized youth awareness meetings, in which they urged the youth to be sensitive to the status, its importance and the special war being waged by the Turkish occupation state.

In this context, Hevin Rashid said that the camp includes 2,950 residents of Afrin, and that they organize themselves through the communes, which are composed of several committees, namely the Reconciliation, Women, Fraining and Service Committees and noted ,"we distribute the monthly relief stuff to all residents of the camp in coordination with the Kurdish Red Crescent."

As for the health side, the Kurdish Red Crescent opened a medical point in the camp to provide health services to the people. An official from the crescent said that there are cases beyond their capacity, and is sent to Afrin Hospital in Fafin district or to Aleppo city.

Continuing to resist in the camp until liberation

Hevin Rashid said that they would remain resisting in the camp until the liberation of Afrin, and added, "we renew the pledge by following the footsteps of the martyrs until we achieve their goals and continue the resistance approach."
