Afrin people prepared for another part of resistance

Hundreds of Afrin residents were forced to leave their homes as a result of the aggression of the Turkish occupation army on Afrin canton and occupied by them on March 18, to al-Shahba canton and the remaining villages in Şêrawa district of Afrin canton. The people who came out in the winter, had many difficulties in the camps, where the floods washed their tents away.

In order to avoid the problems faced by the people, the People's Municipality in al-Shahba and Şêrawa districts are making intensive efforts to serve the people in the canton, especially those living in the camps.

The municipality secured a quantity of raw material for the preparation of asphalt to repair damaged roads in canton. According to officials, the roads of Tel Qerah-Ahres and Om Hosh will be repaired.

Preparing camps for winter

There are three camps in al-Shahba canton and Şêrawa district, are Serdem, Berxwedan and al-Shahba. Thousands of people live there, so the municipality tries to avoid the problems they faced last winter.

In this regard, the municipality gave each family in Serdem and Berxwedan camps in Al-Shahba canton 50 concrete blocks and cement to prepare the tents floor to prevent water leakage.

The municipality also replaced all worn-out tents in al-Shahba camp in Şêrawa district with new tents capable to withstand the floods.

On the other hand, in the three camps, the municipality has set up water conduits in the event of floods to reduce the intensity of the floods. While the municipality is working to expand the Serdem camp, to accommodate 370 tents, in order to receive the people in the event of their arrival.

The municipality also provided water to the people of the camps through the water tanks. The municipality also solved the problem of electricity after securing the generators and distributing electricity to the various villages, towns and camps of al-Shahba and Şêrawa district.

In this context, ANHA agency met with a member of the General Coordination of the Municipalities of the people in Afrin region Mohammed Ahmed, where he said that they are working according to their potential to serve the people, and continued that they have taken all necessary measures to protect the people from the winter storms.

While the citizen Ahmed Daoud, who lives in Serdem refugee camp, thanked People Municipality for its service and said, "We thank the People's Municipality for their services. We will remain here in the resistance camps and we will bear everything until we liberate Afrin."
