To protect their cultural heritage, they teach it to children

Because educating the children at an early age leads to the development of their abilities in the future, while children are the basis for building any society that seeks to preserve the culture and identity.

In this sense, the Syriac kindergarten, which was opened by the Syriac Women's Union, seeks to teach children the basic principles of writing and reading.

The kindergarten which was opened in 2015, has 4 teachers, two of which are to create a schedule of recreational activities and help children during the  playing.

While the third teacher teaches children some of the basics that children need in their daily lives, learn Syriac characters and some foreign words, while the last teacher is teaching the Syriac language in general.

The kindergarten receives newborns up to the age of 5 years and from all components and communities, there is no discrimination between children. The number of children is currently 45 children.

The teacher in the Syriac kindergarten, Rima Seryani, confirmed that these kindergartens help to protect the culture of the Syriac component from extinction.

The materials taught in the Kindergarten, most of which are recreational, such as songs, sports and drawing, as well as the teaching of numbers, letters and vocabulary in English, and there are three classes a week dedicated to teaching the Syriac language.

Rima noted that the purpose of this kindergarten is to teach some basic things to children at an early age, rather than spend all their time playing at home.
