Water provided for 100,000 people in Deir ez-Zor

As a result of the battles that took place in the area, all public facilities, service institutions and infrastructure were damaged, not to mention looting the water networks and electrical cables in transformers and irrigation and drinking water pumping stations which led to interrupting them.

The drinking water purification station in al-Zer village, located on the banks of the Euphrates River in the south of Deir ez-Zor countryside, and after the intensive work of the maintenance and services workshops in Deir Ez-Zor Water Committee which lasted for months, water returned to the people of the eastern countryside.

The station supplies al-Shuhail and al-Zor villages after the Water Department restored drinking water to the two villages whose population is about 100,000 people.

The station is operated 6 hours per day in an emergency state until the power (service line) is delivered to the station. The station is supervised by 2 technicians and 6 workers.

The administrator of al-Zer station Kheder al-Shaher said in an interview with ANHA agency, "Since months, we have been working to provide water to our residents, and we used the tanks as an ambulance to help the people and to deliver water to them until the pump would be repaired and restarted. After the repair of the service line of electricity is done, we will increase the pumping’s hours."

Despite the limited potentials of Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, the council seeks to provide services and assistance to the people and to repair all the damaged public facilities.
