2 IS Belgian mercenaries detained by YPG

Belgian media outlets have revealed the identity of two Belgian citizens in the ranks of IS who have been detained by YPG.

The Belgian two newspapers of La Lıbre Belgıque and Belgian Dernière Heure have published a report revealing the identity of two of their citizens of IS mercenaries who have been arrested by YPG.

According to the news, the Belgian citizens were born in 1990 and they are from Villeforden Belgian city. The two newspapers quoted from a commander of YPG saying, "The mercenaries surrendered in October, 2017 in al-Raqqa city."

One of the mercenaries, Hamza Ahmed Naimli joined IS in 2011 after being introduced to a Belgian extremist group as the Belgian police confiscated his identity card and placed him under surveillance. Naimli traveled through the German city of Dusseldorf to Istanbul Turkish city and from there traveled to Adana city in Turkey.

The other mercenary is Jan Kourturan. He entered Syria in 2012 and inhabited with other mercenaries in an apartment near Aleppo.

The Belgian courts sentenced the mercenary Jan Kourturan to 16 years of imprisonment in 2016.
