MSD expressed its position towards events in Qamishlo

MSD issued a written statement to the public opinion on events took place in Qamishlo city on Saturday, including clashes between security forces belonging to the Syrian regime and the Asayîş Forces.

MSD' statement included,

"Clash erupted on 8-9-2018 between the forces of the regime and the Asayîş Forces in Qamishlo as a military patrol of the regime passed through the Asayîş checkpoint, resulting in leaving casualties in both sides.

The coincidence of this fabrication with the time of holding the tripartite summit in Tehran is questionable as it opened the door of meetings and talks about negotiations between the Syrian authority and MSD, and the statements made by the officials of the Syrian regime were intriguing. We consider them inflammatory and including the language of threat and away from the language of dialogue.

We in SDF regret what happened on Saturday in Qamishlo city, and call on the parties to exercise restraint and stay away from all provocations, and we see that any escalation at this time will not serve any Syrian national party that believes in the language of dialogue in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis on the basis of its political path.

We met the call of the Syrian authority to dialogue launching from our historical responsibility and our belief in our influential role and to deal with the call according to our democratic project and our Syrian identity. We reaffirm that we are supporters of dialogue and peace and true founders of security and stability in North and East Syria. We will not allow anyone to tamper with our people’s achievements and sacrifices and the establishment of the advanced situation that we live and see for the first time in the co-existence and peoples’ fraternity.

We also call for standing in solidarity with each other from Qamishlo to the Syrian coast to Damascus to the mountains of Horan and the plain, bearing together our responsibilities and doing everything possible in the success of the meetings between the Syrian authority and MSD. We assure to our Syrian people that what happened in Qamishlo is done by those who want to thwart our talks and meetings of those who lurk regionally and internationally."
