Find out about Medicine Academy in Rojava, its conditions

The Health Academy, which had been opened in Qamişhlo city, includes all medical, surgical, pharmacy and nursing specialties, it receives all young men and women from north and east of Syria where 64 students from Afrin, Euphrates, al Jazeera, Manbij, have registered so far in the academy. It is scheduled to begin lessons today and the duration of teaching is 4 years, and 3 years of specialized tests in the hospitals of the area.

Admission requirements in the Medical Academy

There are several conditions for student reception, which are as follows:

1- The Academy receives students from the age of 18 to 32 years old.

2- Having studied for at least 11 years.

3- Students are received through autonomous administrations' institutions in north and east Syria only (i.e. through an official institution).

4. Special grants shall be granted to the martyrs' families.

Method of teaching at the academy

In the first month, students receive intellectual lessons, followed by classes according to the teaching stages, in the first year, students receive classes in physics and chemistry, cell biology, organic chemistry, anatomy and physiology.

There is no specific number of doctors in the field of lecturing, but each department has a specific number of lectures. For example, the physiology department requires a number of doctors to give the lecture (i.e., a doctor to dissect the nerve, a doctor to dissect the limbs and an eye specialist doctor).

The studying years at the Academy

The duration of teaching in the academy is 4 years, each year includes 8 months. After graduation, students are tested for 3 years in the field of general medicine, and their specialization is determined according to the experience and ability of the students in all specialties.

The academic system is based on participatory life and a pious spirit, students receive lectures from 09.00 to 16.00,

Creating conditions for students

The Health Body of al-Jazeera canton has set up suitable conditions for students and allocated special accommodation for students within the academy, distributed according to the communes. Currently, there are 6 youth communes, 3 for young women and 3 for young men, each with about 10 students. The aim of them is to support students in managing their affairs within the academy in a responsibility spirit.

Management mechanism of the academy

The academy's management consists of the administration of the communes and the academy's doctors.

Dr. Simaf Ibrahim explained that the aim of establishing the Medical Academy is to advance and improve the area. She pointed out that they have diplomatic relations with an Italian state in order to send academic medical missions to the academy to teach students. "There will be other missions in the coming years for the students to increase their comfort. "
