Why are 300 thousand in al-Tabqa deprived of drinking water

The first pumping stations stopped working after the water level receded from the well that had been feeding them for 30 years.

After several warnings by Water Unit in al-Tabqa city about the risks that four stations (Al-Krain, Al-Asi, Ayed and Jabar) may have, each has a pump or 2 pumps whose task is to supply drinking water to al-Tabqa city and parts of the Northern and Western countryside of al-Tabqa.

At the time, the Water Unit attributed the warnings to a political reason, namely, the Turkish government's insistence on restraining the Euphrates River behind more than 24 dams built along the Euphrates River, not to mention the dozens of agricultural projects adopted by successive governments against Turkey's various ideologies against the peoples since 1925. With a view to obliterating cultures and civilizations in southern and eastern Anatolia.

Al-Krain station, west of al-Tabqa city of the two main pumps, started work this week as a result of lower water levels in the two underground wells.

As for the solutions proposed by the Water Unit, the director of the rural office in the water unit, Mahmoud Hamada said “The Water Unit of the Democratic Civil Administration of al-Tabqa city he has requested that it be supplied with water pumps to draw water from the middle of the lake to the wells in the four aforementioned areas

It is worth noting that the affected stations feed about 65% of the population of al-Tabqa area of about 300,000 people, according to the Office of Organization Affairs.
