Russian-Turkish truce witnessed violations, battles in Damascus countryside

The Russian-Turkish truce which has entered its eleventh day is witnessing further violations amid mobilizing more reinforcements and aids on the contact lines in the vicinity of Idlib. The administrative border between al-Suweida and Damascus is witnessing violent clashes between the Syrian regime and IS.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the armed gangs targeted with several missiles the regime forces’ machineries in al-Niha area in the eastern countryside of Idlib, resulting in wreaking them and leaving casualties within the regime ranks.

This attack came on the 11th day of the alleged Russian-Turkish truce in the governorates of Aleppo, Idlib, Hama and Latakia in order to continue violating the truce increasingly in conjunction with bringing further military reinforcements to the areas of Latakia countryside and Hama northern countryside by the regime forces in preparation for an anticipated operation in the area in an attempt to regain control on them after about three and a half years.

Ankara has stepped up its diplomatic movements towards Moscow on Idlib, where it seeks to dismantle the mercenaries of Tehrir al-Sham (Jabhet al-Nusra) to satisfy Moscow and to keep its tools on the Syrian lands.

Russia announced on Saturday that Washington had begun the preparations for launching air strikes on the Syrian regime and accused Tehrir al-Sham of using chemical weapons to accuse the regime later of doing so. The US National Security adviser threatened the Syrian regime to target it with heavy blows if the chemical weapons were used in Idlib.

In another context, the Syrian Observatory confirmed that the clashes continue at various degrees of violence between the forces of the regime on one hand, and IS mercenaries on the other hand in the desert of Damascus countryside adjacent to the desert of al-Suweida, where the start of the regime forces’ opposite attack with the attack launched with an explosion was monitored during the hours of last night, and it caused the killing and wounding of about 70 elements of the regime forces.

The regime forces were able to advance at the expense of IS in the area of al-Safa hills, and regained new parts of al-Jerf al-Sekhri area in addition to wreaking several machineries of IS.
