Syrian family awaiting Afrin liberation to embrace child’s dust there

Not only have Afrin people severely suffered from the Turkish occupation and its gangs’ attacks against Afrin canton, but also thousands of people from different Syrian areas who resorted to Afrin since the beginning of the Syrian crisis to escape from the oppression of mercenary gangs and the Syrian regime.

Of the Syrian families that chose Afrin as a safe haven is the Daheba al Ali 's family, a mother of nine children (6 boys, 3 girls) at 45 years old, from the town of Khanasir in al -Safira area in the countryside of Aleppo.

She lived with her family next to a stone plant west of Afrin city center, they were supported by Afrin residents who had provided them safe shelter, so that her eldest sons managed to work in Souq al-Hal (vegetable market) and another son in the stone plant  next to their home, so that they could support the family. As for Daheba and her other children, they worked as workers during the olive harvest seasons during the agricultural seasons

When the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched their attacks on Afrin on 20 January, 2018. On the first day of the Turkish military air strikes on the center of Afrin city, Deheba’s two sons Yahya and Khalid Ahmad Hammadi were.

Daheba has lost her son Yahya Ahmad Hammadi 12 years old by shrapnel from a missile fired by Turkish occupation military aircraft near their home in Afrin city . Khaled who is at 8 years was seriously injured in the stomach.

Daheba buried her son Yahya in the cemetery of Tirenda neighborhood in the center of Afrin city under of  the Turkish occupation army's shelling, and treated her son Khalid in Avrin hospital, and because she lost the house where she had lived, she headed toward to Sherawa district to treat her son with help of medical points in the area.

Daheba lived with her 8 children in al-Shaba camp which have been opened since two years for the refugees of the Syrian people, waiting for liberation Afrin city from gangs and nourishing hopes to return to it , considering it her other homeland.

Daheba told Hawar news agency (ANHA) that her son Khalid was deeply affected by his brother’s death. He became isolated from the children and did not mix with anyone. He sees nightmares every evening and becomes introvert. Whenever he hears the sounds of missiles from afar, he runs away and runs around the camp to hide.

Al-Shahba camp was opened in August 2016 to accommodate the displaced people fleeing the various regions of Syria. The displaced people now are suffering from the lack of resources and lack of services provided by the relief organizations to the people of the camp, especially from the medical point of view.
