Some of what achieved in Manbij for two years

Since Manbij city's liberation on 15 August 2016, it is run by a Democratic Civil Administration consisted of Manbij city's people, and it is protected by military forces known as Manbij Military Council (MMC).

The administration is composed of two councils the first is Legislative which enacted 16 laws till now which include the law of Self-Defense Duty performance, finance, consumer protection, 3 decrees and 2 circulars.

The other council is the Executive council which implements the decisions of the Legislative Council. It consists of 13 committees, including the Economy, Municipalities, Education and Health Committees.

In addition to activating the councils to manage the lines worked on forming councils and communes of the neighborhoods and villages over the past two years. The communes were also providing services to Manbij people by ensuring basic materials; bread, gas and fuel.

After liberating Manbij, the women participated in the political life and all military areas, including the service, health and professional fields equal with men to promote the reality of the city which was destroyed by IS, and the following is the most significant achievement in two years.

The service sector

The People's Municipality has worked in Manbij city over the last two years after the liberation of the city to provide services to the people. More effort provided by the workers in the People's Municipality is to remove the rubble and open the closed roads as a result of the destroyed buildings, and to provide all the life's necessities such as electricity, water, bread and fuel to the people.

In the past two years, the municipality's technical office has implemented several projects; setting sewerage systems with a length of 6,000 m in the city's neighborhoods, asphalting and maintaining 4,200 cubic meters of the city's roads in the end of this summer.

Most of the city's roundabouts were maintained and four roundabouts were established, namely the Martyr Abu Laila Square (formerly al-Batta), the rock beside the vegetable market, the Martyrs and the Free Women Roundabouts, as well as the repair of the bridges of al-Sarab, Jarablus and Aleppo road.

The workers of the Electricity Institution returned electricity to the areas liberated by virtue of Manbij Military Council Forces with simple machineries and equipment. The first entrance that has been repaired is the entrance of Aleppo's University on the Aleppo road to restore all electricity networks in the city within two months.

The Electricity Corporation of the People's Municipality managed to supply electricity to all Manbij city's districts with two public networks with a capacity of 25 megawatts for the city and the countryside for two hours a day and an ampere network of 15 megawatts to the city for 16 hours a day.

The Health Sector

In the health sector, the administration has quickly rehabilitated the Euphrates hospital building whose equipment has been looted and most of its rooms have been burned by IS.

Since the liberation of the city till now, the Health Committee has activated the outpatient clinics in the hospital which include the specialties of Pediatrics, vaccine, internal diseases, Gynecological diseases.

The committee also activated the labs, the thalassemia, the blood bank, ambulance for 24 hours and the opening of the central pharmacy to ease the burden on the citizen to provide medicine at nominal prices due to the expensive prices in the private pharmacies.

The committee was able to provide equipment for the following departments; positive kidneys, radiology, analysis, electrocardiogram and the CT scan.

The committee is working to activate 12 dispensaries in rural areas and 4 of them would be opened soon.

The Educational Sector

Since the liberation of Manbij city on 15 August, 2016, the Education Committee has granted 317 schools during the past school year which attracted about 110 students from all stages as they learnt the Arabic, Kurdish, English and French languages.

The committee also worked on rehabilitating between 4,000 and 4,500 teachers as they have undergone intellectual and training courses lasted for 60 days in addition to opening an institute under the name of the Democratic Civil Administration Institute, licensing all private institutes and kindergartens and setting appropriate prices for them.

"In the beginning, we have suffered on the hand of teachers and books, but in the last year, a large part of this suffering has been overcome. This year we feel more comfortable than the last two years. There will be a successful educational process in Manbij and its countryside," said Suhail Wali, the co-chair of the Education Committee.

The Education Committee provided 317 schools with all the requirements of education in addition to providing heaters, fuel oil and paying salaries to the teachers.

The Economic Sector

The Economic Committee of Manbij city opened several projects that develop the city's economy with the participation of the people in the projects through their participation in the shares of commercial, finance and veterinary agricultural pharmacy in December 10, 2017.

The Economic Committee opened a laboratory to analyze the flour as the quality of the bread has improved, while the inhabitants used to complain about the poor quality of bread.

Manbij is destination for all Syrians

After the liberation from IS, Manbij has become one of the safest and most stable cities in North Syria so the movement flourished in the city where life has become stable compared to other Syrian cities.

Despite Turkey's threats to the city, there is a notable reconstruction movement as the people are working to restore their homes which have been damaged by the battle while others are building new homes for themselves.
