Regime advanced in al-Suwayda desert, negotiations on abductees stalled

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that As Suwayda city witnesses for the 18th consecutive day battles and military operations between local militants and regime forces on the one hand, and IS mercenaries on the other hand since the most violent and bloody attack which was carried out by IS mercenaries on July 25, and killed about 260 civilians and local militants, including dozens of children and women.

The forces of the regime were able to achieve more advance in the eastern and northeastern of al-Suwayda desert, aided by intensive rocket and artillery bombardments and air strikes by warplanes on the areas of IS mercenaries’ locations.

These advances coincide with a new failure to reach an agreement between the regime forces, IS mercenaries and notables from As Suwayda about the abductees among whom one young man who is 19 years old was executed and a woman dead in unclear circumstances.

In turn, SANA agency of the regime has said earlier that units of the army in cooperation with the allied forces continued to spread towards Zulf Dam, and the hills of al-Dabaa, al-Dabiaa, Alem, al-Sefa and Erd al-Kera and imposed their control on new areas to the depth of about 40 km from As Suwayda east countryside on some axes, and thus, safety was expanded to the villages and population centers in the area.
