Shahnaz Hasan, aged 46, from Amuda district in al-Jazeera region, married and has five children, has a sewing workshop inside her home.

Shahnaz learned the sewing art from her mother and developed herself through training courses at the cultural center in Amuda district during 1994, the need and love of work pushed her to develop her profession.

After her marriage, due to the difficult living conditions at that time Shahnaz did not have the money to buy a sewing machine, but her passion for the profession was inherited from her mother as she encouraged her to buy her own machine by installment, and the installments of machine were completed after a period of hard work.

Shahnaz has been managing the house next to her husband, she has developed her work day after day, currently she has 6 sewing machines in her small workshop at home where her two daughters and two other girls work in.

Each machine inside the workshop has its own work including a special sewing machine, embroidery machine, a plotting machine, and a fancywork machine, Shahnaz sews several kinds of clothing in her workshop, including women's dresses, evening dresses, children wear, men's and women's shirts.

Shahnaz markets all her products within the markets of Amuda district, she aims to open a larger workshop in addition to opening special training courses in the field of sewing, but she does not have enough fund to do so.
