Mizgeft Dam Reservoir... Various trees, shelter for endangered birds

The Mizgeft Dam Park is considered a destination where the people entertain themselves and take time to enjoy nature.

The General administration of Reservoirs of the Agriculture Department of al-Jazeera canton had announced in 2015 Mizgeft Dam park as a natural reservoir and accordingly the administration started to work there.

As an initial step, it started to plant a thousand trees of cypress and pine within Mizgeft Dam.

In the middle of this year, the number of trees planted on the reservoir reached to 10 thousand trees of different species, including fruit such as apricot, manga, pomegranate, almonds, olives and vineyards as well as forest types.

In order to take care of the trees, the administration has appointed 4 people whose task is to take care of the trees, water them and spray insecticides, and agricultural engineers conduct monitoring tours once every 3 weeks.

As a step to protect species of endangered birds and seek to reproduce them in the reservoir, the directorate has released a number of birds of "partridge of different kinds, and Quail."

Abdel Rahim Ali, the supervisor of the reservoir, says that they are setting up an agricultural nursery for fruit trees.

Ali explained that they use the water of the Mizgeft Dam in watering and as a measure in the event of disruption of water pumps, the Directorate established three reservoirs of water.

The Directorate issued earlier a circular forbidding fishing, birds and rabbits within the reservoir area.

Abdul Rahim Ali appealed to the citizens and families who visit the reservoir to take care of the safety of the trees and not throw dirt only in the places allocated to it.
