Rashida Tlaib won the primary elections to be nominated for the US Congress to be the first Palestinian woman that holds this position.

Nihad Awad, the director of the American-Islamic Relations Council (CAIR) in Washington wrote on Twitters, "Rashida's victory is a powerful message of hope for the American Muslim youths and the marginalized in society and a message limits the President Trump's racist policies against Muslims and minorities."

Rashida won over five nominees of the Democratic Party to fill the seat of the deputy John Conyers who resigned in December amid moral charges, making Rashida Tlaib a replacement for the former US the House of Assembly’s brigadier general John Conyers.

Rashida Tlaib has been Michigan vice-president between 2008 and 2014.

Rashida Tlaib is the first woman to win the introductory elections of the Democratic Party in Detroit, Michigan state's largest city to activate the post of the American Congress for the first time in the US history for the first Muslim and Palestinian woman to hold the post after elections held on Tuesday.
