Elham Ahmed: Talks with regime would not affect humanitarian organizations' work

Elham Ahmed called on the organizations working in the north of Syria to continue their humanitarian and service work in the north of Syria, stressing that any talks with the regime will not affect its work.

The co-chair of the Executive Committee of the Democratic Syria Council (MSD) Elham Ahmed met the representatives of the organizations working in the north of Syria to discuss the recent developments, especially the talks held between the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) and the Syrian regime on July 26 to urge the organizations to continue working.

Elham denied all the rumors promoted by some parties that MSD would hand over areas of northern Syria to the regime.

The Syrian Democratic Council whose executive body is headed by Elham Ahmed went to Damascus on July 26 to discuss with the Syrian regime on the issues related to Syria and the Syrian north in particular at the invitation of the regime.

The meeting, which was held at the council's headquarters in Ain Issa district of Girê Spî canton, was attended by the co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council Elham Ahmed, the joint presidency of the Development and Humanitarian Affairs’ Office Abdel Kader al-Muahed and Zuzan Alloush, and representatives of the offices of the organizations in the northern cities of Syria.

During the meeting, Elham Ahmed explained the essence of the meeting that had brought them together with the Syrian regime in Damascus. Elahm Ahmed stressed that the meeting dealt only with the humanitarian and service situation which concerns the citizen primarily and does not affect or impede the work of the organizations working in the area.

Elham denied the rumors that some of the promoters inside and abroad have misinformed about the handing over of some areas to the Syrian regime in a certain deal which are unfounded.

Elham Ahmed noted, "The discussion was about the possibility of cooperation in the field of health and water resources for al-Tabqa city and the educational situation in Manbij, while there were no negotiations on al-Raqqa categorically."

Elham Ahmed called on the organizations to continue their humanitarian work which serves the people of the area, and she answered the questions and queries raised by the audience.
