Nouri Mahmoud: We work according to international laws

The spokesman for the People's Protection Units (YPG) Nouri Mahmoud statement came after Human Rights Watch's report on the recruitment of underage fighters into the ranks of the People's Protection Units (YPG).

Mahmoud touched upon Human Rights Watch, "This organization did not follow the situation very closely in its report. It is linking the situation in the area to one party although many organizations and political and revolutionary forces exist. It reflects political rapprochement."

As for what was written in the report, Nouri Mahmoud said, "At the beginning there were some young people joining our ranks. This was happening by some of our fighters and our commanders, but it is contrary to our internal System. From the beginning, we are fighting this. There are a lot of examples in addition to having our documents in this regard. The media can make sure of them."

He said that they are punishing those commanders and fighters who have brought young people into the ranks of their units."

Mahmoud said "We may not have reached the final result so far, but we are continuing to work on the basis of ending this phenomenon within our units, within the framework of the international covenants and resolutions of the United Nations and the Geneva Initiative, according to the document we signed with the Geneva Appeal Organization."

Mahmoud said "Despite the fact that they have prepared all the conditions for international organizations to come to the area we protect in the People's and Women's Protection Units and the Syrian Democratic Forces, they are not actually in the area."

Mahmoud added, "We have documents about Turkey's support for IS and the media of Erdogan government that seeks to distort the image of the democratic reality in the area."
