The inhabitants of Abu Khashab camp suffer from severe shortage of tents; some tents are damaged because of their rupture under the sun. There is no wall surrounding the camp to protect it from dust coming from the desert, and there is no medical or emergency point at night.

When you enter the camp, you need time and concentration to get clear vision due to the intensity wind loaded with dust and this is because the camp’s ground has not been sprayed with gravel or sprayed with water since its inception.

In addition, the sand dunes in the camp are the appropriate place for the presence of snakes and scorpions which are from time to time surprise the residents of the camp inside their mattresses, because the camp is not sprayed with any kind of insecticide.

"We have asked for months to replace the tents, but no ears listening to our demands, in addition to the severe shortage of water, which is not enough to drink, how could personal cleanliness be achieved? There is not enough medicines here in the camp, and we appeal to humanitarian organizations to help us, said Adnan al-Ali, who has been living in the camp for five months.

Ghalia al-Saleh said that there is a shortage of medicines and milk, as well as in the camp there are people of special needs, they are in dire need of medicines and we call on humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to us.

Abu Khashab camp is located in the western suburb of Deir ez-Zor, which was established on 13 July 2017 to contain the displaced from the western and eastern suburbs of Deir ez-Zor and the city, the total number of displaced persons in the camp is 361 families with 2,664 people in 495 tents.
