Clerics: Ocalan calls for peace, humanity

The Justice and Development Party (AKP) authorities continue to impose intensive isolation against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison, provoking bitter resentment from many social and religious circles. The clerics in al-Hasakah canton expressed their resentment over these practices and called on international human rights organizations to work to lift the isolation of Ocelan.

The Sheikh Adnan al-Aliawi, a member of the Union Clerics in al-Hasakah canton denounced the isolation which has been imposed by Turkish occupation on the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, he said this isolation targets human values. "The arrest of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan was the result of an international conspiracy, and the Kurdish people in general are proud of Ocalan's struggle."

Sheikh Adnan said in his speech that the Turkish state, which claims Islam, has nothing to do with Islam and added, "The Holy Quran preserves the rights of the prisoners, but the government of Justice and Development does not abide by this, because the leader represents the people, what the cowardly Turkish state does proves to the whole world the injustice practiced by this state."

In his turn, Sheikh Abo Anwar al-Qadri, also a member of the Union of Clerics in al-Hasakah canton, denounced the international silence on Turkish state practices against Ocalan. "Ocalan is the founder of the peace and humanity project, calling for the freedom of all oppressed peoples, not just the Kurdish people."

Shaikh Abo Anwar Al-Qadri has appealed to the Kurdish people and oppressed peoples to address the AKP policies. He also appealed to international human rights organizations and international public opinion to work to lift the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan.
