Lecture on role of women in al-Tabqa

AL-TAQBA

The lecture was delivered by the administrators of the Women Council in al-Tabqa Suad Oso and Suad al-Rasheed. At the beginning of the lecture, the administrator Suad al-Rasheed spoke about some of the customs and traditions that are prevalent in our eastern societies; preventing women from performing their duty in building the society by launching the term "domestic women" as the house becomes a shell or a prison that prevents women from showing their talents and interactive energies in establishing civilization.

Suad stressed that the life of men cannot succeed without the presence of women and said, "We must build a participatory life between the two sides within society and these foundations determine the relationship, tasks and duties of each side towards the other."

In her turn, the administrator Suad Oso pointed out that the capitalist modernity has created class, so women have been enslaved intellectually and physically, so women have to free themselves from the authoritarian mentality and get rid of men's bondage.

Suad pointed out that women must develop themselves and play their leading role by joining women's academies. The principles of shared life must be applied and considered as one of the most important pillars of the democratic nation which is applied today in a practical way in the system of the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

The lecture ended with discussions between the administrators and women participants who expressed their views on the freedom of women and their current work within the local institutions and councils in the area. The discussions confirmed that women need moral support and awareness-raising lessons to eliminate the mentality that has been imposed on them for decades.
