Kurdish Greens, Syriac Union called to protect Yazidis, recognize their Autonomous Administration

The Kurdistan Green Party and the Syrian Union issued two separate written statements to the public opinion on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Şengal massacre which took place on 3/8/2014 and ended the lives of thousands of the Yazidi people.

The statement of the Kurdistan Green Party included:

"The reactionary and terrorist forces want to put their name in the history, and they try to uproot indigenous civilizations and peoples from their regions through terrorism and murder on identity.

With such a mindset, four years ago, IS attacks started on our Yazidi people in Şengal.

The humanity saw the massacres that committed against our Yazidi people and the kidnapping and sale operations, but did not move. Without the initiative of the People and Women's Protection Units to protect them and open a safe passage for them to promote and provide assistance to them, the results would have been much worse than they were, but as these forces did their duty, they alleviated some of this horrific crime.

We in the Kurdistan Green Party strongly condemn the crime of genocide in its fourth anniversary. We call upon the Kurdish forces to ensure conditions for the return of this people to the land of their fathers and grandfathers. We also call upon the institutions of the international community and the Iraqi federal government to carry out their duties in reconstructing Şengal area, and to recognize the civil and security institutions that our people formed in Şengal to protect themselves."

The Syrian Union Party said in its statement:

"On the third of August 2014, IS launched the attack on Şengal that is inhabited by the Yazidi people, and they committed the most heinous crimes against this peaceful people of killing and kidnapping and also displacing tens of thousands from their land and areas. Several days later, the same organization attacked the area of ​​Nineveh Plain where the Syriacs, Assyrians and Chaldean people mostly live. IS also committed the most heinous crimes which led to the total forced displacement of this people and the Yazidi people as they became inhabitants of camps amid the failure of local governments and the international community to secure the most basic needs which increased their suffering more and made the migration of some of them to abroad.

We in the Syrian Union Party condemn the genocide and call on the international community to stand in a serious manner to prevent the recurrence of such massacre and to support these peoples with their national and legitimate rights and demands like the rest of the components in their country. We also support the efforts of the United Nations to reach a just solution to the Syrian issue. All of the Syrian components guarantee their rights fully, consolidate the concepts of civilization and reject the chauvinism, hostility and terrorist ideas, and we consider any other solution to be the continuation of conflicts and eradications against the oppressed peoples.
