Elham Ahmed: 1st meeting's outcomes to determine continuation of meetings

Hawar news agency held a meeting with the head of the Executive Body of the Democratic Syrian Council, Elham Ahmed, to talk about the meeting, which was between the delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council and the Syrian regime, Elham Ahmed stressed that the meeting was held at the invitation of the Syrian government, and it was the first meeting between the Syrian Democratic Council and the Syrian regime " There were local meetings with the regime, as happened in al-Tabqa, but the meeting that took place in Damascus was the first meeting between us and the regime."

No truth to news which promotes the delivery of liberated areas to the regime

Ahmed denied what some parties have promoted about handing over the liberated areas to the Syrian regime. "During previous meetings in some areas, some parties have promoted that the Syrian Democratic Council will hand over the territories to the Syrian regime, we in turn confirm that there is no truth to those news.

The issue is not only a matter of demands, but of the rights, the system of administration and the democratization of Syria

Ahmed stressed the need to strengthen dialogue and added ,"We have met with the Syrian regime, but we must not place all our hopes for this meeting. We have to work and think about how to promote and develop these dialogues. The Syrian regime must reconsider the constitution, because there are the rights of the Kurdish people and other components in Syria."

We have to make sure first of all the regime's intention in the dialogue or not, the regime is already arguing about the existence of external interference in Syria, and that the causes of the crisis are external reasons, and we say to it, we are inside Syria, we did not attack the Syrian regime. We have only protected ourselves. We have only demanded our rights. During the Syrian crisis, we tried to protect our people from oppression. The democratic system was among our demands and we tried to take a step forward in our march towards the democratic system.

The key to resolving the crisis is in the hands of the Syrians, and dialogue is the way to end it

She explained that they were offering solutions to solve the Syrian crisis from the beginning, and that all dialogues will be on the basis of ending the crisis and the war in Syria "because the continuation of the situation as it will lead to serious consequences and division."

She said In the event of any agreement, work groups will be set up. "There is an important point to be aware of If there are no understandings, we will understand that the invitation came within the framework of their propaganda campaign and the promotion of handing over areas to them."

The meeting with the regime was good

Elham Ahmed said that  the meeting was good and said, "In a way that the meeting can be good, but all hopes cannot be placed, or it will be a solution to all the issues that are in crisis

We cannot place our hopes on them and we do not see that the meeting will be the beginning to resolve some of the issues of crisis, especially as we have the key to the solution and the actual strength on the ground.

Rumors of some media outlets aim to implement the policy of the enemy and prevent access to an effective solution

As for the rumors promoted by some media outlets to hand over the liberated areas to the Syrian regime, Ahmed said that this media is hostile and follows regional media she said "Such rumors are trying to spread chaos and legitimize the regime to enter and promote our regions. No truth to news about the delivery or change of the administrative system in our regions."

The owners of the issue are the ones who must meet and reach a solution to the crisis

Elham Ahmed concluded "The practical outcomes of the meeting will determine whether the meetings will continue and resume."

 Our people must be convinced that we will never negotiate the rights of the people of northern Syria and we will certainly protect them. "We went to Damascus to protect the rights and guarantee freedom and democracy for our people, and to emphasize that the solution exists at home and not abroad, because we are sure that the owners of this issue are those who must meet and reach a solution to this crisis in the country."
