Al-Karama’s Justice Divan soundly solves problems

Al-Raqqa city's region have severely suffered from injustice and exclusion by all the regimes that governed the area, after liberating al-Raqqa city and its countryside from grip of IS by virtue of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters in 20 October 2017, many councils, communes and civil institutions were formed to entirely serve area's people.

One of the institutions and centers opened is the Social Justice Divan in al-Karama area of the eastern countryside of al-Raqqa city in 15 December last year.

The Social Justice Divan consists of bodies like Justice Divan, Investigation and Prosecution, Excellence, and the Implementation, in addition, it is followed by the administration of the local reconciliation committees.

The Commission of Investigation is responsible for prosecuting and investigating criminal cases. The Justice Divan’s Body has a comprehensive jurisdiction to adjudicate and convict criminal convictions transferred from the Magistrate's Court, which can be distinguished during a certain period; the Implementing Body shall implement the judicial decision concluded and the decisions of expedited implementation status.

The administration of the Reconciliation Committee is in coordination with similar committees in the councils and the communes aimed to solve the problems without claiming the justice divan.

The Co-chair of the Social Justice Bureau in al-Karama area, Musa Ibrahim said, "The justice divan in the area is essential for the society, before the opening of the divan, no case has been resolved, IS mercenaries had worked in Sharia courts and just solve issues related with stoning and retribution and left behind it a lot of problems   

Ibrahim stressed, "The Justice Divan in all its bodies is working to receive all complaints from the people, and solve them according to the rules."
