Çekjîn Afrin... 22 years of struggle for freedom

He had many good qualities distinguished among his comrades in his different style, everyone loved him and wanted to accompany him, in the struggle of the revolution was avant-garde, He was one of the most active Kurdish fighters, did not satisfy only a good future for his people and on that road was martyred, he was Zaher al-Din whose nom de guerre is Çekjîn Afrin of the twenty-two-year-old activist

Zaher al-Din was born in Mobata district belonging to Afrin region in 1975 and belongs to a national family that was acquainted with the Kurdish liberation movement in the 1980s. His family relied on olive cultivation to facilitate their life. He studied until the elementary stage in his hometown of Afrin. The family then went to the Syrian city of Aleppo to complete his studies with his siblings until the middle school.

He had known of the cadres of Kurdistan Liberation Movement  which fought for the liberation of the Kurdish people in the four parts of Kurdistan within Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq in Aleppo city, and enters with them in secret activities without informing the family, starting with the first step within the art and culture between comrades on all occasions popular.

He does everything he can and provides everything he has to serve the cause

Roxan Al- ,a sister of Zaher al-Din "He was sitting with them for hours, who said that her brother had begun to recognize the cadres of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement after they had hesitated on their home. "He was helping the comrades (cadres) to translate some magazines and files from Arabic to Kurdish, Because some comrades were not fluent in reading and writing in Arabic.

The mother of Martyr Çekjîn Afrin  Mariam Abdo remembers that her son used to take money from them several times and says that he buys textbooks, but in fact he bought political books to read and present them to the movement cadres whose capabilities were weak and dependent on the people's potential.

He walks in the journey of homeland

Roxan remembers that Zaher al-Din came to the house once and asked for 500 Syrian pounds. He told her that he was going to Lebanon with the cadres of the liberation movement to receive training by the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocelan at the academy of Martyr Masoum Qarkmaz.

Zaher al-Din told his sister how good and important the training was for him. He said that if he did not return within 3 days, she would have to inform the family and confirm the news of his going to Lebanon, which would not be returned until three months later. Indeed, the Academy intended to do so in 1992.

After that, the journey of the struggle for the homeland begins, and  heading to Rojava to participate in mountain resistance alongside Guerilla fighters in 1993.

Solid warrior

Nojin Derik recalls her comrade Çekjîn "I used to hear about the martyr Çekjîn very much among the comrades with his hard work and struggle in the mountains of Kurdistan. In 2005 I met him personally, and we spent a short time together, which was a source of optimism

The mountains of Kurdistan have witnessed Judy, Gabar, Desta and Herekol in his struggle against the Turkish enemy. Where he was one of the most active fighters in the military squares, a solid did not surrender to the fierce attacks of the Turkish state on the Kurdish people in north Kurdistan.

His comrade whose name is Delîl Koyî recalls that he fought fiercely against the Turkish army in the yards of north Bhutan "The movement at that time was living in the most difficult and weak stages," he recalls, pointing out that he had fought fiercely against the Turkish army in north Bhutan's battlegrounds and had planned and organized the protection measures. In connecting comrades to their points in a controlled and secure manner. "

His dream is achieved ... the revolution breaks out

With the launch of the Rojava Revolution, the people took important and active steps in liberating their regions and organizing themselves, as well as building a military force based on self-protection from outside attacks. At this time, Zaher al-Din was following the revolution with difficulty and was waiting for his leadership to give permission to participate in it.

In 2013, he returned to Rojava to participate in the revolution, where he had high hopes for success and to achieve his dream he was following from behind the mountains.

He joined the ranks of People Protection Units YPG, after 22 years of fighting and war against the Turkish army in the mountains of Kurdistan.

His discipline was a major influence on the people

The son of the Olive Mountains joined the military forces and trained hundreds of young men and women with his discipline and humble style, he created great enthusiasm among the people. He visited all national families and sat with them for hours discussing the principles of revolution and the struggle for freedom from injustice.

Islamic State 's gangs had increased its attacked against the villages of Deirk, Til Koçer, Rabia, Gel-Agha and Safa village, the comrades agreed that they would make the liberated areas of IS mercenaries a cemetery. They would build a battalion of dozens of military battalions to protect Rojava and North Syria

Vanguard in the war of Yûsifiyê and Sefa village

Çekjîn and many comrades headed towards to confront mercenary attacks on the villages of  Yûsifiyê and Sefa, which he attacked with tanks. he stands in the vanguard to confront the violent clashes in those villages, where he  was martyred by mercenary sniper with several comrades on 27 August 2013 , After a heroic resistance and and foiled the attack
