Al-Jazeera Tempest advanced 35 km in Deir ez-Zor

The second stage of al-Jazeera Tempest campaign that was launched in June 4 continues progressing in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor against IS mercenaries. The campaign has previously succeeded to liberate al-Hasaka city's countryside entirely, while it is chasing the mercenaries in their last areas in the eastern desert of Deir ez-Zor.

Within the campaign's progression, strong clashes erupted during the last 24 hours between SDF and IS mercenaries in Wady al-Rawda area in the desert of Deir ez-Zor countryside. The fighters managed during the clashes to advance about 35 km.

In this regard, the fighter in the ranks of SDF Mohammed al-Abed assured to Hawar news agency, "During the last 24 hours, we have liberated 25 km towards al-Baghoze town, and we continue to proceed a foot in our campaign. Moreover, the hot weather would not undermine our determination to complete our campaign and liberate the area and its residents from IS mercenaries."

Wady al-Rawda area is surrounded with several hills and valleys that are spread in the area, and the mercenaries used to spread within them and be hid from the blows of SDF. After the clashes broke out on Tuesday, the fighters managed to defeat the mercenaries and force them to flee the area of Wady al-Rawda in the center of the desert.

The campaign aims at linking the desert with the cities, villages and towns that have been recently liberated such as al-Sor town and Baghoz strategic town that overlooks the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. With the liberation of the desert, the fighters have imposed a security encirclement on the entire liberated areas.

In addition, SDF and the Iraqi forces still coordinate to secure the border from IS mercenaries.

Furthermore, SDF continue progressing in the desert of Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside against IS mercenaries from 3 axes.
