Voting begins in presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey, Bakur

Ballot centers in Turkey and northern Kurdistan (Bakur) opened on Sunday for some 56 million voters to vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Ballot centers opened at 08.00 hours for voters to vote in a parliamentary and presidential election that marks a landmark in Turkey's history as the opposition seeks to exclude Erdogan and the Justice and Development Party from power.

Voting will continue till17:00. The Democratic Peoples Party will try to thwart Erdogan's plans and his party to prevent the party from crossing the electoral threshold.

In the presidential race, six candidates are competing. Eight parties and coalitions compete in the parliamentary elections, but Democratic Peoples Party is alone and not in any alliance. The AKP is an alliance with the MHP. The CHP is also leading an alliance against Erdogan.

In his latest appeal from the Adrne prison, presidential candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party for the presidency, Selahattin Demirtaş said “If the Peoples Democratic Party fails to enter parliament, all of Turkey will lose, supporting Democratic Peoples Party means supporting democracy."
