The General Command of the Internal Security Forces in al-Raqqa has issued a written statement announcing the emergency state in al-Raqqa city from 5:00 am on Sunday, 24 June, and will continue for two days.

The text of the statement:

"To our people and public opinion:

The intelligence service working within the security system of our forces was able to obtain information on the entry of terrorist gangs working for IS mercenaries and financed by some agendas to al-Raqqa city to carry out attacks that undermine security and stability in general.

Therefore, our forces have been deployed throughout the city in addition to its entrances and exits to repel any anticipated terrorist attacks and precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of the residents and to protect the city, as well as operations of searches and investigations by our forces in which senior figures from the Civil Council will participate to obtain more accurate and error-free information.

In accordance with the security requirements and public interest, the General Command of the Internal Security Forces of al-Raqqa will declare the emergency state and a curfew throughout al-Raqqa city from 5 am on Sunday, 24 June 2018, until 5:00 am on Tuesday 26 June 2018, the General Command notifies everybody to commit to the content of this statement until the elimination of danger and terrorists and foiling of their politicized scheme."
